Miami is located on the Atlantic coast of southeastern Florida.  It is part of the most populous county in Florida, and the ninth-most populous county in the United States. The 42nd largest city in the United States, it is the central city of the South Florida metropolitan area as well as the most populous metropolis in the Southeastern United States. Miami is the 2nd-fastest growing economy among large US Cities.

Miami is a major hub, ranking seventh in the United States in terms of finance, commerce, culture, entertainment, fashion, and education, as well as other sectors, and thirty-third among global cities.

In 2017, Miami was ranked as the fifth “America’s Cleanest City” according to Forbes Magazine for its year-round good air quality, vast green spaces, clean drinking water, clean streets and city-wide recycling programs. Is the 4th healthiest city in America. Did $6.2 billion amount of international home sales in South Florida in 2016. Has 1,000 multinational companies in Miami-and no state income tax .

Downtown Miami is home to the largest concentration of international banks in the United States and many large domestic and international companies.  Specifically, Brickell Avenue is home to the largest concentration of international banks in the United States.  The Civic Center is a major center for hospitals, research institutes, medical centers, and biotechnology industries with hospitals such as the Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Miami VA Hospital, and the University of Miami’s Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine.  Miami hosts more than 55 foreign consulates from around the globe, 30 bi-national chambers of commerce and 18 foreign trade offices.

Another important feature of Miami is that for more than two decades, the Port of Miami, known as the “Cruise Capital of the World,” has been the number one cruise passenger port in the world, accommodating some of the world’s largest cruise ships and operations.  It is currently the busiest in both passenger traffic and cruise lines. Because of its proximity to Latin America, Miami serves as the headquarters of Latin American operations for more than 1400 multinational corporations.

Miami’s skyline is ranked third most impressive in the United States, behind New York City and Chicago, and 19th in the world according to the Almanac of Architecture and Design.

Miami has several guard-gated communities, some are:

  • Fisher Island:   Fisher Island is a private, exclusive island just three miles off the coast of Miami, accessible only by private seaplane, helicopter, ferry or yacht.  The 216 acre island is self-contained, with a resort hotel, world class golf course, spa, and tennis club with clay, grass and hard courts. Originally the island belonged to Carl Fisher and then to William Vanderbilt.  Today, it is home to some of the highest per capita income individuals in America.
  • Grove Isle: Grove Isle is a private gated island located in Biscayne Bay. Condos provide amenities such as a sauna, heated pool and marina. The sports club offers residents tennis, pools, as well as a beach and a fitness center. The Grove Isle Hotel and Spa offers visitors access to the marina, a swimming pool and a beach.
  • Moorings: An exclusive gated community in the heart of Coconut Grove, the Moorings is a beautiful enclave of about 40 Mediterranean style homes. Located just off Main Highway, this community provides 24 hour security.
  • Star Island: One of the most exclusive and expensive private, gated enclaves in Miami in zip code 33139. It’s a man-made island nestled between the mainland of Miami itself, and Miami Beach.  It has been home to Shaquille O’Neal, Madonna, Julio Iglesias and Gloria Estefan, and Rosie O’Donnell, among other celebrities and business moguls. In a recent article by Forbes Magazine, a house on Star Island was tied for 7th place as one of the “Top 10 Most Expensive Homes in the US” with a modest price tag of just $50 Million. This man-made island is separated from the MacArthur Causeway (I-395) by Bridge Road.  Once across the guard-gated entry and on the island, the only road is a single loop of road aptly named Star Island Drive, which encircles Buoy Park in the center of the island.  Truly an exclusive place to call home, the entire island features a total of only about 30 properties.
  • Hibiscus Island Similar to Star Island it offers a waterfront lifestyle, but at a fraction of the price.
  • Palm IslandHibiscus Island’s sister similarly offers a waterfront lifestyle, but a fraction of the price. it is located off of Main Highway just a few steps from the Coconut Grove village center.  As you drive through the guard gate there is a dense tree canopy overhead that covers     the sky.   The townhouses are”rustic contemporary” and feature open spaces with large windows that look out to the trees.  The community offers private boat dock slips available, a pool and 24 hour security.
  • Ye Little Wood:  Ye Little Wood is an enclave of 31 homes in the South Grove nestled along a winding road with a canopy of massive oak trees.
